DESCRIPTION: The hand knitted sweater of Icelandic wool, or as the locals call it - lopapeysa - has become one of the symbols of Iceland. Traditional unpainted wool comes in five colors - black, white, brown, gray and beige. The Icelandic sheep, which have lived in the same area for more than a thousand years, have adapted to the extremely harsh local climate and sub-Arctic climate, so their wool is made up of two fibers. The inner wool fiber is fine and soft, and the outer is longer, strong and shiny, making it water resistant. This combination provides excellent protection against cold climates.
